If you are planning a wedding, your ceremony is likely one of the most important parts of the day. It’s the time when you and your future spouse make the big promises that will form the foundation of your marriage. Whether you choose to keep things traditional or go for something more unique, the vows and the exchange of rings are crucial moments that will be remembered forever.
A good officiant will help guide you through the choices and traditions of your ceremony. If you decide to write your own ceremony, make sure to share it with your officiant early on so they have a chance to review it and ensure it’s correct before your wedding day.
After the opening remarks, the bride will be escorted down the aisle by her father or her maid of honor (typically in pairs). She will then meet up with her groom at the end of the aisle where they are pronounced husband and wife. It’s a great idea to get close-up shots of the couple as they hear themselves being pronounced husband and wife for the first time. It’s a moment they will be looking forward to for so long, and their faces show their excitement.
Following the ceremony is usually a reading or performance. These can be done by family members, friends or professional performers. They can be anything from your favorite poetry to a quote that holds special meaning to you and your partner. It’s a nice way to add a personal touch to your ceremony and also give your guests something to talk about when the wedding festivities are over!
After the reading, it’s time for the ring exchange. The ring bearer will then bring the rings down to the officiant who will prompt you to put them on each other’s fingers. Once the rings are placed, the officiant will then say “With this ring I thee wed” and you’re officially married!
